The Dukinfield Open Exhibition was a community-created exhibition celebrating the creativity, experiences and individuality of residents living on the Dukinfield Estate.
I worked closely with participants from the Dukinfield Craft Café, supporting each person to create a unique body of work to exhibit. The resulting exhibition brought together a diverse collection of mixed-media artwork, with each participant given the opportunity to develop and present their own personal art exhibition.
A key part of the project was making sure the exhibition was carefully curated with accessibility in mind, creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for a wide range of visitors. The exhibition gave local residents the opportunity to see the creativity within their own community and celebrate the talents and stories of the people who live there.
The exhibition was enjoyed by many people from the local area and was also visited by the local Mayor and local politicians, helping to highlight the importance of community-led creative projects and the positive impact that art can have on neighbourhoods.
It was a wonderful opportunity to work alongside the participants and see their ideas develop into a shared public exhibition — celebrating creativity, community and the individual voices of everyone involved.
