The closure of local government funded swimming pools is a problem for so many communities, in Dukinfield the residence have lost two public swimming pools in the last few years. As an act of activism we created over 100 clay swimmers and a large textile protest banner to display at the Science and Industry Museum to highlight the importance of these community spaces. The exhibition also featured audio stories collected from the group, of their memories of water. The textile banner is currently being exhibited at HOME MCR in the exciting Open Exhibition. This project was kindly supported by the Manchester Science and Industry Museum.
