It has been one of the biggest joys of my creative life to be a lead artist on the Home from Home project . I facilitate the women’s group in Gorton and have been running the group with Pavia award since September 2023.
Through biweekly sessions, we explore creatively in lots of different mediums and what it is to be a woman . The Group is generational and has such power for social change.
In the summer of 2024, we hosted an intergenerational women’s celebration event which saw exhibitions stand-up comedy and the sharing of crafting food and stories. This event was attended by 40 Women from all different backgrounds. It was a beautiful evening enjoyed by all of us.
In December 2024 we created our community exhibition called Home is where the art is which featured co created pieces by myself and the women in the group. The pieces included a street of autobiographical house sculptures large clay pieces and an 8 foot woman sculpture. The exhibition celebrated The Group and their creativity as well as exploring what it is to be a woman in our society.
